Handmade Japanese Gyuto Knife
The handle is coated with lacquer with Tsugaru lacquering, a traditional Japanese craft. The Tsugaru lacquering handles are repeatedly coated with different colours of lacquer and polished to create a pattern with depth. It is glossy but fits perfectly in your hand when you hold it.
Tsugaru Nuri is traditional lacquerware made in the Tsugaru region in Aomori (north part of Japan). The history of Tsugaru Nuri can be traced back over 300 years ago to the Edo period (1603 ~1868).
Tsugaru Nuri has a graceful beauty but is also strong and durable.
As each lacquerware is crafted by hand, no two patterns are identical.
